Twill
A type of textile weave with a pattern of diagonal parallel ribs, done by passing the weft thread over one or more warp threads then under two or more warp threads and so on, with a “step”, or offset, between rows.
Pinpoint
A dressy fabric with a distinctive shine and texture. With a more prominent weave, it is ideal for those interested in a dress or formal shirt with visible texture.
Linen
A textile made from the fibres of the flax plant. Linen is laborious to manufacture but the fibre is very absorbent and garments made of linen are valued for their exceptional coolness and freshness in hot weather.
Herringbone
An arrangement of rectangles so named for a fancied resemblance to the bones of a fish such as herring.
Spandex
