The Shirt
The collar is paramount in determining the shirt's level of formality. For example, a button down collar is the least formal type of collar, whereas a pointed collar is a formal type of collar. A shirt with a button down collar can be worn without a tie. There is a large selection of collars for you to chose from for your perfect shirt.
The placket is usually made of multiple layers of fabric and it houses the buttons and the buttonholes. There are many different types of placket, such as the french placket (which is actually the absence of a placket), a front placket, a covered placket etc.
Buttons function as fasteners for a shirt, but that does not mean that they cannot be customised. You can choose from the classis plastic buttons or mother of pearl buttons, made from the inner layer of pearl oysters. The plastic buttons are made from a plastic resin and different resins can make the button lighter/darker.
The yoke is the piece of fabric under the collar and around the shoulder. The yoke is very important as it holds the clothing for the back of the shirt. Tha tailor needs to consider everything about the wearer's shoulder, to make sure that the back of the shirt conforms to the body.
The cuff has several different styles, such as the french cuff and the buttoned cuff. It can be cutomised to your needs. The number of buttons on the cuff is another important decision that needs to be made when designing the cuff.
